Scotiabank Steps Up to Support the AIDS Walk for Life

We are pleased and excited to announce that Scotiabank has become the title sponsor of the AIDS Walk for Life, nationally.
“The Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life is an important event for all Canadians,” said Rick Waugh, Scotiabank President and CEO. “AIDS and HIV do not discriminate. Men, women, youth, and children across this country in the communities where we live and work face the realities of this unforgiving disease every day. We are proud to support an event that provides important funding to fight AIDS and raises awareness about prevention of HIV.”
The Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life will take place on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Victoria School Gym.

Walk For Life 2009 Raises over $23,000 - Thank YOU!
The Avenue Community Centre and AIDS Saskatoon want to say a very sincere thank you to the Saskatoon community for their enthusiastic support of the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life this September.
Over $23,000 was raised by teams and individuals, including matching donations from MAC Cosmetics and Old Navy.
These funds are shared between the two organizations to help fund education and prevention programs, and support programs for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Teams raising over $1000 were 'MAC Cosmetics' $5034, 'Pam's Research Team' $4045, 'Rainbow Cinemas' $2430, 'ACC Board' $2076 and 'Street & Sexual Health' $1650.
Individual walkers raised 25% of the total amount, including the top two walkers, Brian and Joanne who raised $1950 and $491 respectively.
Every little bit helps and we thank all of our supporters: walkers, sponsors, volunteers and everyone who pledged an amount, large or small. Together we make a difference!
Over 100 walkers (and 4 dogs!) turned out in the rain to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in our community.
The event was attended by Roughrider Mike Abou-Mechrek; Scotiabank representative, Brian Porter; David Forbes MLA; and Councillors Charlie Clark, Pat Lorje and Darren Hill.
